I Didn't Get the Memo

"Think for a minute, darling: in fairy tales it's always the children
who have the fine adventures.
The mothers have to stay at home
and wait for the children to fly in the window."

While sitting in a semi-migraine-zombie state in front of the TV this morning, I saw a commercial for a new birth control pill. I always hate birth control ads, tampon ads, and basically any ad that has anything to do with being a girl, because I always wonder what kind of people come up with the weird marketing strategies for them.

Anyhow, back to this particular ad. Of course, it featured lots of girls wearing skirts and headbands, running places with a handful of balloons. What bothered me was not the part where a stork wanders up the a girl, and she smiles and shakes her head no. (And no, I did not make that up.) The part I really hated was the girl, confident in her inability to get pregnant, decides to take a trip to Paris. (Again, this is an actual commercial.)

When I was at the hospital going through labor, they must have forgotten to mention to me the fact that any future personal happiness was down the drain. Specifically, the trip to England that I've wanted for a million years- out of the question because I have a baby?

I love Amelia Kae, and I love the British countryside, and although I may have to leave a pack of 28 pills and some maxi-pads at home, I bet I can have both.

(I can also promise to never blog using the words "tampons" and "maxi-pads" again.)

Hahhaha, wow.
I know! I saw a commercial with a scene like that in it. Oh. My. Like.....really.
Traveling is NOT out of your future permanently just because you have a child. That's just my humble opinion, including the fact that commercials aren't real.
Sigh.
I'm going to England someday, too. A friend who's a bit younger than me is going to college there in the fall!! Her parents are missionaries there and so have a bit of an anchor in the place..... strange but wonderful fact. :)
