Day 4

Prompt: Wonder. How did you cultivate a sense of wonder in your life this year?

Author: Jeff Davis

When I first read the prompt this morning, I thought how short this post would be- I haven't cultivated wonder. At all. I am a boring person.

But then, I remembered that wonder happened to me last night. It happened unexpectedly and beautifully, which is the way I would rather it happen anyway. I glanced out my window, and saw white everywhere. Huge flakes were falling. I had no idea that it was supposed to snow.

So after I finished writing Christmas cards and tucking them into envelopes, I pulled on my boots and coat and wandered out to the mailbox. The almost-eerie quietness of snowfall really soothes places of me that I don't usually remember I have. I stood at the door for a long time, watching and waiting and deeply breathing the cold air.

I said on day one of this Reverb10 challenge what I wanted needed in the new year: peace. Even if peace on a large scale (the world) isn't possible, I have to believe that peace in my life can happen, that my days can be wonder-full.

And last night, if only for a few minutes, there was peace. There was wonder. There was hope.

love the post. Sometimes the simplicity leaves us in wonder :-)

Wow, that is a sense of wonder. I love finding beauty in the quiet moments. And I love giant snow flakes. Funny story - when I was in chambana my freshman year my (dumb) roommate was convinced she didn't need a winter jacket because we were too far south for it to get cold.
