A Song For Baby

"You don't love a girl because of beauty.
You love her because she sings a song only you can understand..."

It doesn't make sense, really. I began singing this song often last winter and spring- I sang it with my baby in mind. The only thing was, I didn't know it was going to be a girl yet. Or maybe, somehow, I did know.

Either way, this song was stuck in my head for a good long stretch of my pregnancy. And I'm having a really sad night, so I'm doing this for my own sake to cheer me. Amelia has heard it oh-so-many times. And now, because I'm linking up my song with Goodnight Moon, so can you.

Full lyrics:
My Girl- The Temptations

I've got sunshine on a cloudy day
When it's cold outside, I've got the month of May
I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?

My girl, my girl, my girl
Talkin' 'bout my girl
My girl

I've got so much honey, the bees envy me
I've got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees
Well, I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?

My girl, my girl, my girl
Talkin' 'bout my girl
My girl
Ooh

Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey
Yeah

I don't need no money, fortune or fame
I got all the riches baby, one man can claim
Well, I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?

My girl, my girl, my girl
Talkin' 'bout my girl
My girl

I've got sunshine on a cloudy day
With my girl
I've even got the month of may
With my girl
