Thanks, Abe

I was going to write this post to explain my bad mood. I was going to tell you I didn't get the scholarship and how it crushed me. I was going to write out the whole list of reasons why I'm upset, why I feel disillusioned, why I'm listening to sorrowful Beethoven's sonatas, and why the whole world is mean.

But then I came across the quote from Abe. I love Abe.

No. Not that one. That one was on Pinterest and it made me smile.

This one- the one I keep hanging on my refrigerator where I can be reminded of it daily:

I am not a college student.
I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a writer, and a girl who loves whole milk and cherry pie.

Until I figure out a way for school, I will work hard at all of the above.

I'm sorry to hear about the scholarship, but I definitely love your outlook and quote. :) ***hugs***

That's a great attitude to have. This summer has taught me that life could always always always be worse. Always. So be thankful for what I have and enjoy every second of it, because at any time it could be taken away from me. Keep your chin up! Your time will come. :)

I have no idea what rank Sky is... but I wanted to make sure you knew abut the MYCAA program, on the off chance you hadn't heard about it and you qualify. I believe you can get up to $4,000 per year for specialist certificates and Associates Degrees.

I'm sorry you didn't get the scholarship...those things are 80% about politics anyway...so frustrating. On a side note- I've been trying to work up the energy to make a cherry pie since I'm sitting on a ton of fresh cherries...and you just provided me the motivation to do so. Come over for a piece later today? (and the things that you currently are- you rock at that entire list)

I am sorry that it didn't work out. Don't let this door closing make you lose sight of your goal. Yes, it is going to be more difficult to earn a degree because you now have a little one, but it is not impossible.

If you're looking to broaden your horizons and learn new things, I recommend MIT's Open Courseware (http://ocw.mit.edu/index.htm). You will have access to classes at one of the top schools in the country for FREE. Of course it will not count towards a degree, but it will allow you to learn new things.

you are so sweet, erika. i'm really sorry you didn't get that scholarship. i'll keep my fingers crossed for you for other open doors and opportunities...you never know who you could meet or the connections you might make.

on the upside, that quote from abe is awesome; i've never heard that one before, but it sounds like the perfect little blessing that you were able to stumble upon it.

keep your chin up, girly :) there's still time for great things.

I'm sorry about the scholarship, that really stinks. I love that quote too. I'm glad you found some inspiration. You are amazing, and I know that there are good things to come for you.
