The Graduate

We're big Illini fans in this house. Millie happens to be tied for first place as #1 fan of the University of Illinois (the school here in Chambana, for those of you who don't know). Yes, she's tied with me. But last week, she took her orange and blue pride a step further by skipping grades K-12 altogether, and going straight for her bachelor degree.

I'm very proud of her. She got a "Bachelor's Degree in Baby Science" for attending a study at the university's Infant Cognition Laboratory. The tests were simple- things like seeing which object she would pick given the choice, teaching her a fake word, and showing her a pattern and breaking it to see he reaction. (It's the kind of test that will be put in a textbook or article someday, saying, "According to this 2011 study...")

This is one of the fun things about living in a college town. And while I'm glad to contribute to the university's research, I'm mostly proud that she graduated long before Sky and I did. The biggest draw was not necessarily helping society (sorry society!), but in acquiring this awesome souvenir. How many babies do you know who completed a four year degree in the span of 30 minutes?

The kid's a genius.

If she becomes a doctor, I will force her to hang this photo in her office.

I love this! Millie is just so darn cute in her little outfits (even if the Illini are our Big 10 rivals:)! What a smart little girl - she's got a bright future ahead of her!

Oh, that's so cute! I worked in the cognition lab over 10 years ago when I was a wee little undergrad. I absolutely love the photos! Go Illini!
