Readers

I'm not one for finding pretty photos online and blogging them as if I'd created them. But when I came across this quote last night, I couldn't help but share it. I believe so strongly that kids should fall in love with reading, and I am very blessed that my parents helped me to do so.

And before Millie could even speak her handful of words, she was already dragging books across the room for me to read. It makes me so proud, because as much as I don't get right as a mother, I feel like I've gotten this right. I'm really proud to have a daughter who loves handing me a story, crawling up on my lap, and sinking into me as the pages turn.

It's one case where I'm glad she turned out exactly like me.

I love to read and I started reading to Emma when she was only a few days old. Now she loves to have me to read to her, and it puts a big smile on my face when she begs me to read her a book more often than she begs me to put a movie in for her. It's one of those few moments that make me feel like I'm actually doing something right :)

I love reading and so does Em. On of our favorite things to do on Thursday's is go to Barnes And Nobles grab some coffee for me, chocolate milk for her and head to the kids section where we spend an hour or two just hanging out and reading.

Lovely quote, and so true. My daughters always loved books from babyhood, and I'm pleased to say that all my grandchildren love books as well, even the two little ones, who will sit for ages on my lap whilst I read to them. Great post.

Great quote!! Brandon and I feel very strongly that our kids should have an interest in reading. It shouldn't be an issue, we both love our books. For Christmas, I'm going to be buying our little newborn a bunch of books to start her collection :)

What a wonderful quote. My husband started reading with the kids as soon as they were born. My sweetest memories are of him cradling them in his arms as babies and reading a story in the rocking chair. I have so many photos of those simple times. Now I love listening to the kids read their books to me - I love that they enjoy reading as much as we both do!

My kids are grown now and I can attest to the fact that reading to your children is one of the most important things a parent can do for them. From the time my kids could sit in my lap either my husband or I had a book in front of them. Not only did it teach them to love reading but it was a wonderful bonding experience. I treasure that time. We've still got all the books, by the way. Grandkids someday!
