Sleepless Already

source
We're actually going. After weeks of ups and downs with random travel planning Army people, chaplains, Sky's unit, and everyone else who had a hand in it somewhere, we finally have orders and a flight schedule to go to Army Strongbonds (their marriage weekend retreat-type of thing) later this month. I won't link to it again (you can find it in the history tab if you like), but last time we went was not good. Wounds were fresh and topics discussed hit too close to home. I couldn't handle it well, and looking back, I think I kind of sabotaged the weekend for the both of us. It's not what I meant to do, but we got very little out of the conference because we struggled through it.

This time, we get a new chance in a new city. We won't be an hour up the road in Illinois- we'll be across the country in a gorgeous place that neither of us have seen. We've never been on a plane together. We never had a honeymoon. This trip may sound insignificant to some, and especially to other milspouses who often do a lot of traveling, but I am over the moon excited about it.

I'm anxious to see my mom and little brother, who I haven't gotten to hug for a year and a half- they're all driving up from Oregon just to spend time with us during the small bits of free time we'll have. I'm excited to potentially meet one of my best blogging friends (or maybe several if time allows). But the reason for this trip is to connect with Sky, of course- to press pause on work, parenting, daily duties, and real life. To take one last deep breath before my fall classes begin and life tumbles back into obligations, and just be together. Even for our small lives, many things often clutter them, and we don't have a lot of those moments to sit back and be married, you know? Obviously, I hope we learn things we can apply to our relationship and come back enriched, but if they taught us nothing, just the 48 hours in a different world will be wonderful.

48 hours, and we're going to live every minute of it.

You HAVE to go to Trophy Cupcakes and the FIRST Starbucks at Pikes Place market. I'm so happy for you and I hope you have a blast! Take Tons of photos. It is a beautiful place to visit. Also, I believe the needle is still painted Galaxy gold. It was repainted a few months ago to make its anniversary. Have fun, stay in touch. Also, the first eddie bauer is their. And if you can find it, the illusive test store where you get the new product for crazy fricken cheap.
