Christmas Giveaway #17: {Botolphston Books}

If you are a book lover, then I know you will adore today's giveaway. Rebecca is a friend from my high school days (and I found an old photo with both of us in it, but let's not do that to ourselves). She has gone on to do amazing things in the world of books. Here she is to tell you more:

"I started in the antiquarian book world as a rare book librarian, cataloging everything from fifteenth century Bibles to nineteenth century manuscript ship logs. Getting to play among some of the rarest and most beautiful books extant was an amazing job, but I was increasingly interested in starting and building my own business.  To that end, I established Botolphston Books in March 2013.  We buy and sell early printed books, specializing in the Renaissance, Humanism, the Reformation, and Jewish printing. I’m eager to help collectors find the books they’ve been searching for, so send me your wish list!

Giving away sixteenth century books would be amazing,  but it’s not really where we are here at Botolphston Books.  Not yet, anyway.  Alas!  And, to be realistic, not everyone wants a first edition Erasmus Greek New Testament under the tree on Christmas morning.  So instead giving away a miniature book, by far the cutest part of the rare book trade.  This Bewick’s Select Fables was printed by The Hillside Press, and is number 65 of 375 copies.  It has tiny engraved illustrations throughout, and would make a wonderful stocking stuffer for a bookish friend or family member.

Along with that comes a journal in the style of one of my favorite bindings.  In an increasingly digital world, it’s nice to put pen to actual paper sometimes.  I have one just like this, and use it to take notes on the books that I’m reading, but I think it would be nice for anything from a journal to a fancy place to jot down your grocery list."

Now that all my bibliophile friends are drooling, I hope you'll all keep Botolphston Books in mind when searching for for that special volume. Check out Rebecca's blog on the site as well, and good luck in this beautiful giveaway!
This giveaway is open to U.S. only.

Wow! Real printed books!!! I love the feel, look, and even the smell of old books. What treasures! I couldn't come up with a favorite, but have enjoyed practically every book I ever read, even children's books I read to my kids and grandkids over and over.

Oh my goodness!!! This is a fabulous giveaway!!

My most favorite book is - The Harry Potter series. My mom "made" me read it when I was 15. I ended up reading the first 4 in a week, book 5 in one night, book 6 took me longer because it came out on my wedding day ;) and book 7 in 2 days. The series taught me to read for pleasure, but it also taught me a lot about life. No really, it did! I <3 harry

I love to read and asked Santa for a journal, but he must have delivered it to the wrong home.:( I teach first grade and read the Junie B.Jones books to my students to show them how fun reading can be.
