A Look In on Our Day Out

"Writers will happen in the best of families."

Tomorrow is my father's and my sister's birthdays. Tonight, I spent time putting up the decorations with silver glitter, the balloons, and the banners full of colors and exclamation points. It's a strange thing to do, moving around the house in such brightness, while feeling so somber.

Tonight, I'm looking back on this last weekend, a happier time. Sky's brother and his wife came to Chambana for a visit. He'd been deployed to Afghanistan since last July and just recently returned home, so we hadn't seen them for nearly a year. It was good to catch up with the two of them and have a double date, consisting of pizza, frozen yogurt, a walk around campustown, and a few rounds of Apples to Apples for good measure. (For the record, everyone won a round but Ryan. Sorry buddy.)

(Brittany and Ryanzo) At Papa Del's Pizza, the best pizza in Chambana, hands down...if you're ever in town, tell them I sent you. Or don't...they wouldn't know who I am.

We were glad the world didn't end. We had time to finish dinner.

Where did Brittany go?!

Ryan snapped this one of me. If I look like I love this town, it's because I do.
Photobucket
We climbed the University of Illinois Alma Mater Statue
Photobucket
Not going to lie...I was terrified, and it wasn't even that high.
Photobucket
We saw pedestrians posing like this earlier, so the boys reenacted it for the camera.

Classy.
