Feed a Cold, Starve a Fever

With the heat index today, the summer roasted us at 110 degrees (Accuweather says 113, but does it really matter after you hit 100?). I also have a cold or other bug that zaps energy, and brings headaches and stuffed noses (thank you, Millie). It was not a fun combination.

So we did what any Midwesterners would do- we made meat and corn. Maybe not the best choice, but we had beef stroganoff and buttered sweet corn on the cob. I made it for Sky a long time ago, and it made me realize how much I love it, so it's now a favorite in our house. Millie did not approve of us taking time to cook and not pay attention to her, but then again, Millie has not approved of much today. She's such a baby sometimes!

To counter the less than perfect day, we're spending the night eating mini Drumsticks (the ice cream, not the chicken) and catching up on recorded TV shows. That, and dreaming about better days in the near future. What is in the near future, you ask? The brigade ball, no less!

Sky came home from drill this weekend with that exciting news. I immediately began Googling hairstyles and dresses. Bergner's had an ivory ball gown on clearance for $30.00 (and it was originally $200), and I bought a flower for my hair. I compared the last ball to a sort of second wedding, but it seems as if I'm really pushing it this time around! But this event is not an hour away in a not-so-great town- it's right here in Chambana, and that makes me very happy. I can't wait to show you all the pictures! I can say that confidently, because Sky offered to carry our huge Nikon around so I can have good photos of the night. I was trying to figure out how I'd disguise it in a clutch purse...

My head stuffiness is taking over, so that's all for tonight. To sum up: heat, good food, miniature desserts, fabulous dresses, and dancing in Chambana. Yes, I think that's about it.

It's been way too long since I have visited your blog.

I just looked at your pictures from the last ball, and WOW! You were stunning my dear. I can't wait to see this year's pictures.

I hope you feel better soon!

Enjoy those mini drumsticks. If I hadn't just gained some extra weight from my vacation, I would be all some of those. Maybe after a few workouts. ;)

I threw the clutch idea out last year after getting my canon rebel... I just bought a nice sized hand-bag just big enough for the camera & lip gloss =)

$30, that's amazing, dude.

I looked at the heat index for Champaign at like 5 o'clock and it said 119. **119**. That's insane. I think it got to like 95 in Chicago.
