New

"And now we welcome the new year, full of things that have never been"

A lot of bloggers have been compiling their top posts from 2011- a sort of highlight reel for the past year. I wasn't able to do that.

2011 wasn't my favorite year. There was plenty of good, sure- but there was a lot of struggle. And though climbing the mountain is beautiful in and of itself, I'd rather keep focusing on getting to the peak and seeing the view from there. I've finally come to realize that there are no guarantees in this life. So I will make my resolutions, but make them quietly and gently, knowing they may bend and that's okay. As long as my family is together and our house is warm, it really doesn't matter if five pounds are lost or fifty books are read this year.

Some people say 2012 will be the end of the world as we know it.

But I'm hoping it's just the beginning.

Happy New Year.

THIS.
2011 was hard! I'm also looking forward to 2012 bringing in new challenges but mostly growing in love and peace.

What a lovely post. Though I did create a goal list for the new year, I do agree with this post of yours. :)

I completely agree. I could compile a list of books because that was my only tangible accomplishment. Otherwise, this year was too weird to put into words. I was with the man I love, but moving around and not having a steady job was very hard on me. I'm pretty sure I spent most of the year fighting myself out of depression.

I have a feeling 2012 will be an improvement for both of us. I'm so lucky to have you as a blog friend. Cheers to new beginnings!

What a beautiful post! I have my goals set (mostly to get me through 9 months of deployment with my sanity in tact!) I am looking forward to growth during the next year though and building a better foundation for my health, my life and my marriage.

While I love the sentiment you have put forward here, my prayer for you is to remember the struggles you have overcome this past year even though it was not the best, for they have helped you become the inspiration you are today to so many! You are climbing a mountain and the view will be beautiful when you reach the top- the journey is well worth the thought though.

Happy, happy new year my friend! Much love and many blessings to you and your beautiful family!
