One afternoon, a few weeks ago, Beckie from Turn for the Nurse tweeted me, asking if Millie would like a tutu. I knew from experience that she would- she had a pink and purple one gifted to her from Sue at Hello. Also, I Love You. Beckie understands the universally acknowledged truth that a girl can never have too many tutus, and sweetly offered to make one.
And about a week ago, we received a box all the way from Hawaii. Millie watched me open it and exclaimed "Diddy (pretty) dress!" She wanted to wear it right away, and was dismayed when I wouldn't let her take a nap in it.
I've always said I wanted Millie to take ballet in a few years. The truth is, I don't care if she learns how to dance. I just want to take pictures of her all dressed up. But as much as I love watching her wear it, she loves to wear it even more- she immediately begins twirling in circles, singing and clapping her hands. Even at not-quite-two, a pretty outfit can work magic.
It will be years before Millie will be able to understand all the kindness my blog friends have shown her, so though she can't express her thanks to you just yet, I want to thank Beckie for taking the time to make something so magical. It's funny, but once Millie was born, I found that someone being sweet to her makes my heart happier than just about anything.
Even though she doesn't quite know it at the moment, this baby has some of the greatest friends a girl could ask for.

TOO CUTE. Love the colors too :)
Love the tutu! I have a two-year-old son who loves to dress up. He doesn't have a tutu but if he were to ever encounter one, I bet $100 he would put it on without hesitation.
haha I'm the same way about having Addison learn to dance. I just want an excuse to dress her up and take lots of pictures!!!! Millie is too cute in her new tutu! Love these pics. (-:
I grew up as one of those dance kiddos, and so many pictures exist of me all dressed up in my costumes. Granted, I also danced through high school and in college. She looks adorable, and I know someday she will love looking back at these photos :) also, most dance classes start around 3 so she could be dancing before you know it!
Like Dani said, 3 years old is when the little combo classes start. Some studios might even do mommy and me classes which are for 1.5-3 year olds. Dance has given me so much that applies to everyday life: work ethic, perseverance, the ability to take correction with a good attitude, the ability to stand in front of various sizes of groups of people to perform or to speak and many lasting friendships. There is also the physicality side to things. Mommy and me as well as 3/4 year old toddler classes are usually very based in developmental stages that the toddlers are going through. Those classes are about starting to get the little ones to figure out different connections between the body and brain. Dance (in the right setting) is a very postitive and powerful thing for the mind and body. If you do start looking into it, I wouldn't recommend competition studios. That is a very...interesting...culture of dance that I don't agree with at all most days. A small, family based, non-profit is usually a good way to go. Most studios have some sort of scholarship program as well though hopefully they wouldn't make a toddler class once a week expensive for parents. I am really biased but if she is into dancing on her own, putting her in a class will give her a good focus for that energy and possibly start something life long that she'll be passionate about. She's still young but it's never to early to have dreams of dance :)
What remarkable friends you have! Isn't that darling? I think the last picture sums up so much about early childhood and what mothers treasure up in their hearts.
How adorable!! What great friends you have :)

Oh my gosh!! Too cute!!!!!! That tutu is probably the cutest one I have ever seen.. AND I agree...blogger friends rock.
Every girl, at every age looks adorable in a tutu!!! I hope, of course, that she does decide to do dance, I am byass of course, but you are right, even if she doesn't, she can still dance about in your living room in her tutu's!
