Prompt: New name.
Let's meet again, for the first time.
If you could introduce yourself to strangers by another name for just one day, what would it be and why?Author: Becca Wilcott
Oooh. Now this is a good prompt. (So good, in fact, that I'm tempted to come up with 10 different names.)
I'd come up with something mysterious and fabulous- something from the 40s. Maybe a movie star or a mafia man's wife. (I Googled what that might be and found this website: http://gangstaname.com/names/mafia The result: "Yo, your old name was Erika. Well, fugeddaboutit, 'cause now we're callin' ya: Carla Tagliano." Um, no thanks. That is not what I had in mind.)
I don't really care for my name very much, so this would be a chance to reinvent myself. So goodbye Erika, and hello... Ava...with the brim of your hat pulled low across one eye, with the soft curls, with the tiny cherry-print dress that makes you seem much more innocent than you really are. You speak in that slightly faster way that those movie stars did, and you are glamorous and elegant and, sometimes, dangerous. You say things like Violet said about her dress in It's a Wonderful Life, "Oh, this old thing? I only wear it when I don't care how I look." Then you flip your hair like she did and you smile, knowing everyone is watching your Jessica Rabbit walk.
It's going to be such a disappointment putting on a pair of jeans today.

Oooh I really liked the reinvented paragraph. Nice name, too! Ava. Sweetness.
