Day 26

Prompt: Soul food. 

What did you eat this year that you will never forget? 

What went into your mouth & touched your soul?

Hmm. Uninspired again. I guess what I ate was mostly forgettable!

A few things:
-The lasagna I made that set off the carbon monoxide detectors in our apartment building. I was about 4 months pregnant. I called my dad, a firefighter, and he said to get out and call the town's fire department. A bunch of teenage-looking guys in big suits showed up with several trucks and flashing lights. Everyone had to evacuate at almost 10 o'clock at night. We had just moved in a couple days ago. That's how we met the neighbors.

-The beneigts that Mom made for breakfast this morning. When I was 11 or so, our family took a vacation to the south, and went to the Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. We had some of those lovely doughnuts (and I hate when they're spelled 'donuts', by the way), and we were hooked. It's been a Christmas breakfast tradition in our family ever since. Hot and sprinkled with powdered sugar-heaven.

-The Starbucks I've had lately. I adore coffee and tea, and Starbucks is some of the best. I hate it, because I want to be the cool, indie girl who only likes the small, hipster places- and I really do like those places, too- but Starbucks is addicting and awesome and a bit like crack. Peppermint mochas have been my thing these last few weeks.

What about you? Anything out there I need to sink my teeth into and try?
