We Tried

We got a letter in the mail this morning. It informed us that our application for assistance had been denied by an association specifically set up to help the National Guard and their families. Three weeks since Sky first was activated, and no sign of his paycheck yet.

When I did that first interview on the news, something amazing happened. A viewer saw my story and left a check at the news station for our family. Because of that viewer, I was able to buy diapers for Millie. I'm not sure what we would have done otherwise.

I'm pretty bitter towards the Guard right now. This just doesn't make sense to me.

what in the hell? Why can't you guys get paid .. this is pissing me off ... You have a child. I'm so glad someone was generous enough to help you out. How sweet. The Army can suck it ... why doesn't sky try going active duty so you guys won't have to worry about that?

Pardon my profanity but, that is some bullsh*t!

In NO way is that right, and for them to not even approve you for assistance when their not paying you is even worse.

Thank God for generous people!!!
I hope everything works out!!

They have to pay you!! Over time perhaps it will come. The government like to hold your money until they feel fit to give it to you. Unbelievable!!!

It is pathetic that you cannot receive assistance from an organization who is set up to help National Guard members and their families, but you can get some help from a stranger who didn't have to help you at all. You should set up a PayPal donation button on your blog. I'm sure all of us have a few bucks we could spare to help you with diapers or whatever you need until your pay comes in. I'm also glad you never said what the name of the organization is, because I'm pretty sure I would call them and rip them a new one if I knew where to call! Hang in there, girl! *big hug*

oh girl, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I feel like us Guard families get pushed to the wayside sometimes.

Oh my word, that is just horse buckie... Totally ridiculous! I'm so glad that someone pressed forward and made an act of kindness to give a check to help get some stuff bought and paid for... Ugh, I am so upset for you!

I'm not sure what organization it is, but I have connections to a number of agencies that are set out to help folks in your situation. You have my email. Let me know if you'd like some further resources.

This is crap and I hate this for you. I am so glad your blog exists otherwise I would not know the plight of the national guard families. Its a shame that we treat the national guard like they don't matter until our towns are flooding or we're all stuck in a snow bank. Out of sight out of mind. BS

A random act of kindness that has gone a long way to helping you. The perfect stranger...It is so refreshing to hear things like that.

This is ridiculous - I'm sorry. That stranger was so kind. It's nice to know there are people like that in this world.

Good grief, what a hot mess!! It is ridiculous that they're doing this. I hope it gets resolved soon or we'll have to do a fundraiser with lots of publicity to shame the government into paying you!!

I'm glad someone was so sweet as to leave the money to help you out.

As you know, we've been through this too. I'm keeping all of my fingers and toes crossed that your check comes soon!
