"You Say It's Your Birthday? It's My Birthday, Too!"

I didn't expect much, to be honest. I think I established that before.
If you had asked me what would make up my ideal birthday,
I would tell you it should happen something like this...

First, I woke up to a happy little Millie singing in her crib.
After we played a little while and she had napped,
I heard a soft knock at the front door.

I peered through the peephole and saw a beautiful bouquet held out for me.
Sky handed me the vase, kissed me, and told me I just couldn't have a birthday without flowers.

It was quite possibly the prettiest bouquet I've ever gotten.
Don't they just look like birthday flowers?

Then I had a stack of birthday cards to open!

There were a few from Millie, Sky, my siblings, nieces, aunt and uncle, and Mama.
(It was the first card Millie's ever given me. Aww.)
The rest of the cards were pulled from my mailbox, and came from all over the country.
Four sweet blogging friends sent me little notes,
and along with all the Facebook posts and blog comments,
it  really felt like the whole world wished me a happy birthday!

Thank you Katie, Mrs. Wookie, Skinnie, and Annie!
Mail is one of my favorite things.
(The notecard kind, not the bill kind.)

And finally, I was taken to dinner, along with most of my siblings,
by my aunt and uncle (who have spoiled me like a second set of parents!)
We had good food and great conversation.

We got home in time for Sky to mix up a funfetti cake,
and we were able to sneak in a piece before bedtime.
He even cut deep into the cake so I wouldn't have to eat an edge piece.

No one asked me how to make the day so special.
The best part of my birthday was that it all happened like that anyway.
It was a bit magical that way.

And I think 27 has potential to be a very good year.

Linking up today

One huge P.S. There is one huge part of the day I left out.
It deserves its own post, though.
You'll be reading about it soon. Any guesses?

Yay! I'm so glad the card made it on time... looks like you had a wonderful birthday. Peruvian Lilies are my favorite flowers, and I think they are just the best. I can't even begin to guess at the part left out, guess I'll just have to wait for the next update =)

I'm tickled pink you had such a good birthday!!! Now I'm excited for mine since you had such a good turnout. I'm glad you liked the notepad - I know you said no gifts. But I thought a little something was needed. So there!!

And as far as an update post, maybe an upturn to Sky being back in uniform?? Men just look too good in them. :)

Glad you had a happy day! And an inner piece of cake, too. ;)

So glad you had a good birthday! I love that you got flowers and that Sky cut into the cake so you wouldn't have an outside piece (sounds like my kind of piece!). Can't wait for the post to hear the other big thing that happened!!!!
