A Full Heart

Oh my, my...what a day it has been in this small town.

The day rose to greet me with a text message from my soldier. He was back at the armory, ready for me to pick him up and take him back home. Millie couldn't hide her excitement when she saw her dad open the car door. As we drove, he taught her to say "Army" as he pointed to his uniform, then "Daddy's in the Army". She recited it a few times in her high-pitched, sing song voice. "Ah-me. Daddy Ah-me."

Once home, he dropped his bags, we kissed, and life settled back into normalcy until the next drill. The sun had set and the strong line of thunderstorms began swirling nearer our home. I logged on to the computer to find that Kristle had delivered some amazing news. It made my breath catch for a moment. I looked at Sky and pointed to my name on the screen in disbelief.

Somehow, amidst the hundreds and hundreds of military spouse blogs, I was selected as one of the top 10 finalists for the 2012 Milbloggie award*. I didn't dare hope it could happen two years in a row. Between the other finalists, who are so fabulous, to so many other blue star and gold star bloggers who are not only great writers, but dear friends, it's incredible. Thank you for the indescribable, humbling honor.

I've told you that bits of life have kept me a little low lately. Days like this (and silly cards from silly friends) help.

My heart is full to the brim tonight.
