Stalker

Remember the neighbor I wrote about here and here? The tension has reached an scary, all new high this past weekend, just in time for Halloween.

It had been a mostly peaceful past few months, as far as Mr. Neighbor had been concerned. A little chatty still, and a couple more trips to his door to ask him to lower his TV volume at 2am, but nothing especially remarkable.

But Friday night, when Millie and I were alone in the house, the doorbell began ringing furiously. Attempting to pin a diaper onto a wiggly little girl after her bath, answering the door was the least of my worries. After I finished with her, I crept towards the door and peered out the peephole. I saw something with a huge face and a skinny body. Slightly creeped out, I didn't open the door and eventually forgot about the incident- until Sky came home, that is.

He said, "Did you see this thing?" when he was home from work. I opened the door slightly, and this is what I saw:

And while the gesture was kind, and I'm sure he meant well, after the stalk-ish (no pun intended) tendencies we've seen from him made the whole situation a little eerie. Scarecrows are fine and all, but seeing one show up at your door unannounced and at night is a bit unnerving.

The lights were all out, and both Sky and Millie had long been asleep, but my night was spent tossing and turning. I couldn't stop picturing that orange-nosed face. Some images are hard to forget...

Yeah, that would creep me out. We have this huge 5-foot giraffe stuffed thing that Max got the kids for Easter and he likes to put it in funny places in the house to scare me. It's awful and I can never sleep well that night!

That thing is seriously creepy looking. I wouldn't be able to have it up. Oh, your neighbor is probably so lonely, but that doesn't make up for the creepiness factor at play here!

Although I admit, it is creepy, especially the way it was delivered, if it were me I would take it in stride, thank the neighbor for his kind gesture and use it as a means to bridge the tension between you two. I believe this was probably his/her intent and they probably are a little um...eccentric where people skills are concerned. Take the high road.

So. Creepy. Your stalky neighbor and my crazy cat lady in the bushes neighbor should get together!

I feel like the neighbor just might be really lonely? Maybe you could use this as a way to settle tensions by saying thank you for the kind gesture? Sometimes older people can have eccentric ways to show their kindness and can be misinterpreted. I would take the high road and try to settle things. Though, I have to say that scarecrow is kind of really creepy haha
